Almost 1 in 4 adults under 65 years report dizziness or vertigo. Let us help you regain your confidence with our experienced vestibular physio.

Vestibular Rehabilitation is a specialised program of treatment to enable normal responses of the eyes, ears and brain to positional changes so that normal balance can be restored. When there is a problem, the brain can no longer rely on the organs for accurate information and can give a false sensation of movement and imbalance. Symptoms may include disorientation, vertigo/room spinning, dizziness, visual disturbances, headaches or migraine and balance problems.
Conditions that are known to respond well to vestibular rehabilitation include:Labyrinthitis, Vestibular Neuronitis, BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo), Vertigo, Ménière’s disease, Vestibular Migraine, Acoustic Neuroma (pre and post-surgery) and dizziness in the elderly.

Avoiding movement delays recovery and so early treatment is essential. The benefits of physiotherapy treatment can be dramatic with some patients achieving immediateand lasting relief enabling you to regain independence, reduce the risk of falls and restore confidence.

At Physiofit, our assessment and treatment protocols are based on sound evidence-based research and clinically proven techniques and are customised for each patient. Our specially trained Physiotherapist, Jean Thistleton has over 10 years of experience in vestibular rehabilitation and after a thorough assessment will discuss with you your treatment options which may include specific techniques to treat symptoms for BPPV such as the Epley manoeuvreand bespoke exercises.

Before starting vestibular rehabilitation we ask that you see a doctor first to exclude other conditions.

Physiofit COVID-19 Update04 January 2021

We are pleased to announce that following guidance from the government, our clinics will remain open and we are still able to see patients face to face for “medical reasons” which include physiotherapy. We will continue to maintain strict protocols with physios wearing PPE and we ask that from now on all patients wear a medical grade mask (no cloth face coverings). These can be purchased from reception on arrival at a cost of £1. These decisions have been made with the safety of our staff, patients, and the wider community at the forefront of our minds.

Whether you have a new problem or need ongoing support for an existing condition, we are here to help you get back to what you love. If you are concerned about coming in to clinic but do not want to delay starting treatment, we continue to offer virtual consultations via phone or video if these are more appropriate.

We ask for your help by making sure that if you are not well or have had recent contact with someone with symptoms of COVID-19 you let us know before entering the clinic.

We hope you and your families all stay safe and well and we look forward to welcoming you back to Physiofit
