Richard qualified in 2010 from the University of Nottingham gaining a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. He started working in the NHS, gaining experience in a variety of areas of physiotherapy before specialising in musculoskeletal and sporting injuries. This interest in sporting injuries lead him to his Masters studies in sports physiotherapy at the University of Bath. Through his Masters studies he has gained experience in elite sporting environments working with Team Bath, GB Judo, Leicester Tigers RFU and Great Britain Hockey. This has enabled Richard to develop key assessment skills and high-level return to play rehabilitation programs, workload management and injury prevention knowledge. He has a keen interest in racket sport injuries and has attained a bronze qualification in the Association of Chartered Physiotherapist of Sports and Exercise Medicine. Richard is based at both our Alderley Edge and FITISM clinics
Richard also has experience in the management of persistent or long-term pain. This incorporates a variety of treatment techniques to improve understanding of pain mechanisms and how to improve your quality of life. Outside of work, Richard has an interest in most sports, regularly playing league hockey for Knutsford and tennis in the Cheshire county league.
